Enable

Post by Hazel Anthony »

Did anyone else feel that horrible sinking feeling when Waldgeist came roaring up from behind?
I love Enable and I was so disappointed when she didn't get her third Arc.
She's still the Queen for me though :D
Thoughts anyone?

I'm still in shock. I thought Frankie gave a good ride but in the end, I believe the heavy footing tired her a bit. Not to take anything away from Waldgeist, but if the course was firm, Enable would have hung on

I bet Frankie is kicking himself. He made a move way too early for the ground. She’d have probably won if he’d waited another half a furlong. If he rode her like a maiden claimer instead of the best horse in the world, he wouldn’t have dreamed of asking for a sprint that sustained on wet ground. That said, as a jockey myself I know you make a decision in the moment and you can’t always see that swooper moving and nor can you hear it that well on wet ground.

She’s still an incredible mare. People don’t realise just how difficult it is to get a mare to a single G1 race, let alone do it 3 years in a row.

Enable will be put back in training in 2020 with The Arc as the main goal

Seems a little odd to keep her around considering how light she has been raced.

What a wonderful thing for racing that she will be kept in training next year :)

Juddmonte and Prince Khalid Abdullah are awesome! To let us enjoy horses like Frankel and Enable for longer, many owners wouldn’t do that.

It’s obvious why she’s been kept in training-to win a third arc that hasn’t been done before.

I wonder if they did a breeding check on her and found out she may have difficulties. Either way, it’s fantastic to have such a wonderful mare stay in training!

OR maybe they just like racing her and want a chance to see her win a 3rd Arc.

Khalid Abdullah is 82 years old. Maybe he thinks he won't be around to see her foals run so he might as well enjoy seeing the world's greatest racehorse try to win a 3rd Arc and a 3rd King George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot which has also never been achieved before.
