Book recommendations?
Hey all! I really enjoy reading nonfiction. I especially love reading race horse biographies. I've read Secretariat by Bill Nack, Seabiscuit: An American Legend by Laura Hillenbrand, Ruffian: Burning From the Start by Jane Schwartz, and Gold Rush by Avalyn Hunter. I'm currently working on a book on Dr. * by Steve Haskin. If you guys have any racing books you recommend, I'd love if you posted, as I want to expand my collection. I'm open to anything!

Re: Book recommendations?
Found this book at a thrift store a few years ago, it helped get me into horse racing.

Re: Book recommendations?
It has a Long title, and is an older book, but is worth the read.
Wild Ride : The Rise and Fall of Calumet Farm Inc. , America's Premier Racing Dynasty
by Ann Hagedorn Auerbach
The author investigates all the mismanagement of Calumet Farm after the elderly owners passed away and their heirs and the farm manger took over. Although he was never taken to court for breaking Alydar's leg and then collecting on the millions in insurance, most people think that is exactly what the farm manger did to that magnificent horse...who at around age 19 was nearing the end of his stud career. Insurance fraud, though, was something that could be proved. So this book has a number of good elements in it...the story of how Calumet Farms became great...talks about their famous horses, with Alydar ending up as one of the best stallions in the USA, siring Derby Winners, and also becoming a noted broodmare stallion. And how it all fell apart and how questions were raised, then answered in regards to why it all fell apart.

Re: Book recommendations?
Muriel Lennox has written a few on Canadian Racing and she can turn a phrase as good as any. I’m currently reading Frederico Tesio’s book ‘In His Own Words’. Originally written in Italian, I question some of the translations, but it’s a cool read.

Re: Book recommendations?
An older book worth reading is Vincent O'Brien's Great Horses, by Ivor Herbert and Jacqueline O'Brien. Covers everything from his National Hunt years through Nijinsky II, The Minstrel, etc.
