1992 Melbourne Cup winner Subzero has passed away at the age of 32 just a couple of months after his best mate Graham Salisbury. After retirement from racing the beloved grey gelding was sold to Graham for $1 and retrained as a Clerk Of The Course horse (aka a stable pony) but was best known for his visits to Hospitals, Hospices, schools, retirement homes etc with Graham. He was known for his remarkable empathy and would go with Graham inside hospitals and straight up to bedsides of ill people to kiss them.
