Kentucky Derby Prep Replays

Post by Joe Bengston »

https://thehorseraceguy101.wordpress.co ... replays-2/

as I try to every year for the past couple years minus last year. I create a page that has all the derby prep replays (minus the international races if I can't find them on youtube/so far this year they have been found and included)

I created this with handicappers in mind as I like to handicap horse racing but I was so annoyed having to open multiple tabs to take notes and click back and forth or even if just on an adw it would just take time to search one replay to the next. So I came up with the idea of putting them all in one page so at the time i could use two monitors one with the replay page and the other with the pp's of the derby horses.

The second option if one doesn't have dual monitors is to get some form of printed version of the pp's so you'd be holding in your hand paper of the pp's and the replay page on your screen.

Now even if you don't handicap and just like watching races or obviously you're on the sim you probably like horse racing and are simply a fan so you can just use to enjoy watching them without having to search each one individually.

Lastly because I am using a free wordpress blog the videos will take a little to load so just please be patient and give it time to load all the videos. and this year I couldn't figure how to have the ability to make the videos full screen which I had problems in the past with that but managed to work around it but of course wordpress updated again and the code before that worked no longer seemed to work. so I apologize if not being in full screen somehow upsets and angers you, I likely won't change it this year but if anyone knows that code to make it work for wordpress so you can make youtube video's full screen I'd love to know!

Apologies for this long donkey message.

This is great, Joe!

I'm excited for the derby prep races this year - Concert Tour was born at a farm I worked at while interning in KY! While I can't quite remember whether I foaled him or not, I do remember loving him as a foal and have plenty of photos of him! Excited to see how he runs this year.

I wonder if this is the year Tapit will finally get his derby winner. He has some good ones.

On the live TV broadcast, Andy Serling was wondering the same thing. But when he asked if there was more (than these 2) Tapit Derby contenders, he and Laffit Pincay III could not name any.

A bit late, but you're right, I couldn't either. But I looked through the top 20 on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard as of last week and there is a third— Proxy, the colt out of Panty Raid. Maybe because his dam is so popular, and he's not gray, people don't remember his sire, haha. He's placed twice in... the Fair Grounds preps, I believe? So not exactly a top contender, but if all goes well for them, Tapit might have three in the starting gate.

If I looked it up correctly, Proxy has an older (+2Y) full brother that is still a maiden.

He looks like a serious racehorse! Congrats. It must be great to see him grow up to do great things.

With the news that Life Is Good is off the derby trail, I have to imagine Concert Tour becomes the favorite, or is at least pretty close with Essential Quality. It's a shame about Life Is Good; hopefully he comes back okay. The derby might have looked a lot different with him in it.

(Owner says he's off the trail, Baffert just says he's out of the Santa Anita Derby. I have to imagine it'll be a little clearer soon.)
