favorite LOOKING racehorse?

Post by Ren Marston »

Thought this could be a fun thread
What is your favorite looning racehorse out there, weather or not they preformed up to their appearance?

For me, it's gotta be Honor A.P. Something about that nearly black coat, big blaze and white stockings is so charming

I love plain wrapper horses! Sea The Stars is one of my favourites for multiple reasons, but also because he's a gorgeous leggy bay. My favourite is probably a plain chestnut but I can't think of a horse off the top of my head that matches that description.

They all have very small or barely noticeable stars, but Funny Cide, Commentator, and Hystericalady come to mind. Hystericalady is especially another favorite of mine, looks wise. She was so dainty, reminds me of a deer. Zenyatta absolutely dwarfed her going by her in the Ladies' Classic. Can't believe that was 14 years ago.

I love flashy faced horses/lots of chrome! Like Courageous Cat, Honor Code, Improbable, Rags to Riches, Talismanic, and now Newgrange, etc.

I also adore Honor AP's markings! He looks like he is melting.

I'm a sucker for strange markings. My first thoroughbred love was Lost In The Fog, with his misprinted blaze. I was so obsessed with him as a kid, and devastated when he died young:

But Gun Runner's dam Quiet Giant was an absolute stunner as a filly. I had her as my background picture for a while, just look at those dapples!:

And of course there is aptly named Constellation with her birdcatcher spots:

I loved General Challenge from the first time I ever saw him race. He was a big bright chestnut with socks up to his knees and a lovely blaze. (I kind of remember him (being almost 17 hands) He won over $2.8 Million dollars, and this was back in the mid/late 1990s. The first photo, was taken around his retirement and the second photo was taken some years after that...but in spite of the weight gain, he still looked good. I saw a photo of him not too long before his death and it must have been winter, because he was a shaggy looking thing...lol...and weighed even more...but still beautiful.

I have to pick some "Coldbloodtrotters" :)

Järvsöfaks, the best horse (literlly!) World record holder in wins and speed... 42 wins in a row, 184 wins in total!

Or this handsome... A norweigan coldblood, "Bork Rigel"
Image

Or this one.... "True Fighter", standardbred.... (ok, he is mine, I might be little biased.... ;) )
Image

Or his mother "Thornaby Pride" (also mine, but only in my heart now... <3 )

And my favourite photo ever....

I'm a sucker for anything flashy. Especially since it is so hard to find them here in the states. Give me a colored Thoroughbred or a homogeneous EE (Black TB) and I'll be happy.

Two of my favorites are Southern Phantom and Starresha

Southern Phantom

Starresha is a granddaughter of Airdrie Apache whom I am obsessed with as he is one of a few TBs dually registered with the JC and the American Paint Association

California Chrome was built beautifully and was flashy. My new favorite is Picasso, a son of Tapit, that is almost blinding white (gray).

Ruffian was one beautiful filly. Just the way she held herself and moved.
