Your Kentucky Derby picks

Post by Gwayne's World »

Henry didn't draw into the field, so my pick is:

#14 Angel of Empire 8/1

He's coming off a win in the Arkansas Derby at my favorite track, Oaklawn Park.

Tapit Trice has the name to be triple crown winner. Post position 5 and the breeding to get there.
I need supervision 24/7.

Tapit Trice is probably the strongest horse but the knock is he can't get out of the gate well

Forte because he has top ACL3 (by 1.9) and PP (by 8.1). As usual, no horse in the Derby has CC (my lame excuse why I will bet very little on the Derby).
ACL3: Average Class Last 3
PP: Prime Power
CC: Current Class
These are brisnet measures.

I haven't looked at the field and the names mean nothing to me so I will take a wild stab in the dark (much like my TCT) and say number 8

I don't think he'll be value as a bet but I've always adored Forte so I hope he'll justify favoritism.

Well now that Forte is scratched I am free to cheer for my actual pick which is Rocket Can. Loved his last gallop.
