Race 13 Saturday at Pimlico

Post by Gwayne's World »

Preakness Stakes

The pace looks as if someone could jump out to a lead and never look back?

However, I'm going with one who isn't that type.

#7 Blazing Sevens 6/1

Mage is my pick because I haven't won the Preakness yet in RL so that would be a nice winner's photo to add to my wall! 😂

I'd love for Mage to win here. Particularly since I deplore the trend of all the other Kentucky Derby runners not even trying to turn out again two weeks later. Are real racehorses really that fragile that no connections even want to try a rematch with him?

I loved Forte before the Derby, and Mage's winning certainly paid a compliment to him as well, so I dare hope they'll get to meet eventually in a race like the Haskell or Travers, or maybe even the Belmont.

I like Perform but he seems to be the wise guy horse and now I'm not so sure. I'll throw down a bit of money on him just for fun. And hey its Shug, who doesn't love to see him win a big race?!?

I'm not picking Mage because this seems to be one of those years where the colts all share victories. About every 2 weeks there's a relative;y newcomer that wins and is suddenly 'the wonder horse'. then two weeks later we forget about him and a new 'leader' emerges (for another two weeks).
Having said that, my post will now insure Mage wins just to make me look more stupid.

First Mission #8 was scratched from the field this morning.

Leaving a field of only seven runners.

He was the 5/2 second choice in the morning line.

Mage is my pick as his brisnet CC, ACL3, and PP strongly dominate the rest of the field.

I checked his online fixed odds and his odds are currently at -120 or 5/6. But his odds at Pimlico are currently significantly higher. I suspect that his odds at Pimlico will dropped considerably by post time.

I can still remember his face when Orb won the KY Derby. It was priceless!
