Mongolian Khan and Preferment look like legit chances to be the first AU/NZ bred Melbourne Cup winners in ages. Some good trials from the internationals today too though.

Cox Plate looks like it will be exciting too! Although if Highland Reel/ Arod have travelled well surely one will win?

I like Fame Game for the Cup, all reports prior to the Caulfield Cup said that he would be run like that. The 3200m of the Melbourne Cup should be perfect for him. Needs some value though, considering that Mongolian Khan is going to be very hard to beat.

Anyone got same hot tips for the Cox Plate meeting?????

Don't recall a Cox Plate where you could probably entertain all of the runners to some degree. Criterion/ Hartnell/ Arod/ Highland Reel I'm thinking at this stage. Don't rate Winx

Haven't thought about the other races (And I'm not in the country on Saturday so probably won't bet in any of them)...but surely Lucky Hussler is close to a sure thing on current form and moving from Handicap to WFA

Woohoo!

Loaded up on Winx. Also jagged the quinella with criterion for 1000%.

Looks like I was spectacularly wrong about Winx! Although I still find it hard to believe that a horse that wasn't good enough to beat the 3yo fillies in Sydney 6 months ago could win the plate by 5, bias or no bias.

Not sure what my cup bet will be for sure but it will probably include Fame Game and Hartnell in some capacity. Love the fact that Criterion is in the race and doubt I could resist putting some money on him (despite the obvious distance doubts)

I like Criterion, but I'd really really like Red Cadeaux to win. He's such an awesome old horse.

Red Cadeaux winning would be awesome but I don't see it happening. Although I say that every year

Oh man I'm SO glad to hear that Red is doing okay considering what happened. What an awesome old horse.

Remembered this thread out of the blue, felt the need to check it out.

Really looking forward to the cup this year, some real quality - Verry Eleegant, Russian Camelot, AVD, Sir Dragonet, Tiger Moth and the Baby

With Sydney expanding their carnival, there hasn’t been much depth in a lot of races, but this one should be exciting
