Well, I definitely found today's racing exciting  Apache Cat has long been a sentimental horse for me and I now have a new favourite in So You Think. I didn't think the Cox Plate was run that slowly but I haven't seen the sectionals yet so I could be wrong.

It was the second fastest Cox Plate ever behind Might and Power's so they didn't walk. It was a very hard track and Rangi broke the mile recod by a second or something so maybe it was just the track :? . Nevertheless it seems like he didn't get cheap sectionals like Maldivian last year. Manhattan Rain ran very well then too...thought he would definately struggle getting 10 furlongs

3yo crop still looking very good

Apache Cat is a legend! He was very lucky to get the opening on the rail when he needed it, but did what he had to do to win.

Despite actually changing my Super Stable this week i still did terrible. I never rated So You Think or Manhattan Rain so my form of knowing nothing is still true!

Ill try and make up for it this week!

So You Think is running in the Mackinnon. I might still trade him though; I need a derby horse. It all depends on who will be more likely to win: Irish Lights in the mares race or So you Think in the Mackinnon. If only we can have three 3yo's. Sigh

Yeah he's out of the Mackinnon. I read it in mX on the train today (free PM newspaper in melbs)

Also, Speed Gifted is out of the MC and Hanks out of the Derby (very disappointed about this). Irish Lights is running in the Ascot Vale, which looks to be a good race

Looks like cararra is out of the derby.
Its a bit weird, they don't show as being scratched. They just didn't end up in the final field. So they must have withdrawn early enough.
The links above now show the correct fields.

2 days left for swap-outs. Good luck.

Derby day tips:

R1- The Comedian was very impressive, but he's coming off a country win and is like 2-1 or something, so probably unders. But I think he'll win

R2- A shocking field menas that it is Shocking's race to lose. He should be ready to win

R3- Pass

R4- In the race of the day, I'm looking for an outsider to spoil the party. It's a big field in a straight race; anything could happen. I have a lot of time for Delago Bolt and might have a small bet at the 26's. Ran a track/distance 1.5L 4th to Black Caviar back in early September

Will continue this later. I have to cook dinner

Back from 17-hour dinner!

R5- I can see Vigor winning this. Zipping, Master O, Viewed should be running home well; but I don't see them winning the race

R6- The Derby! It's not really that bad a field, considering it's the derby and all. I'm really really keen on Onemorenomore. He's the class of the race and if he settles I think he will win. He was 12-1 last night so I think that's good odds for a group 1 winner.

R7- Glowlamp for the place. With a lot of the chances being speed horses, I think it's set up for a sweeper, maybe Neroli

R8- First Command is a beast and should win it

R9- Im going to go for Largo Lad first up. I do like the big fella. Can see him being ridden quietly and coming down the outside to win

There's sometiems a rail bias on derby day so if there is I wouldn't go for Largo Lad and I'd probably switch Neroli for a speed horse such as Typhoon Tracy

For my super stable I have:

Irish Lights (Ascot Vale)
Shamoline Warrior (Derby)
Neroli (Myer Cl)
First Command (Salinger)

I think that might be it. But three of those are the favourites so I think I'm well placed

I swapped shamoline warrior in for the derby, i was tossing up viking legend but went with the favourite.

My last swap went to Alcopop for the cup. It was out of Daffodil and Alcopop, i dont think either have won over 2400m, but alcopop's sire jeune won the race so i went for him.

I left Efficient in, fingers crossed he will pass the vet examination today and i will be the only person in the comp with him in my stable. If Lloyd Williams says the injury is managed thats good enough for me!

Some how i managed to have $600,000 left over, i have asked for cheque made to 'cash', i'll wait and see if it turns up in the mail!

Good Luck everyone!

Tip for next year:

Do your tips a bit later in the weeek than I did this week

Just read that Efficient is out. and so is Shamoline Warrior. They were my two swaps this week :|

Kirklees is out of the cup too

I didn't get the $12 on Onemore but did manage $10 yesty; he'd now be one of the favourites with SW out
