Re: Gibraltar
And Gibraltar is your Y32 Japanese Derby winner and my first ever homebred grade one winner! Go G-man! On to the St. Leger!
Ugh...wait, I have to wait another four weeks to run him?

Re: Gibraltar
Alright everyone, I have a question for you, need a little advice.
Gibraltar is currently vetting very well (already). The end of the year goals for him are the Japanese St. Leger and Japan Trophy. He would be going four weeks again between the Japanese Derby and St. Leger if we went straight into the race, and I don't know if I really want to do that. However, if I put him in the Tokyo Trial week 12, he would end the year with a 10-12-14-16 schedule.
Is that too much? Should I send him to the Tokyo Trial? Or keep him "training up" to the St. Leger?

Re: Gibraltar
Currently, Gibraltar is vetting as "ready to race", so the short ship to the track shouldn't bother him and he's good to go for this Friday in the Tokyo Trial (G3)!

Re: Gibraltar
Three in a row! Gibraltar is still undefeated since coming to Asia after winning the Tokyo Trial Stakes over Ashley Gibson's very nice Porthcuno!

Re: Gibraltar
I had been tossing around the idea of running Gibraltar in the Hong Kong Turf Cup week 15 to get a "normal" three-week break into him. However, he seems to be liking the two-week breaks and his vet reports are coming back extremely well only one week after racing. So, he is back in the St. Leger field to get his distance check. We'll see where we go from there. It will either be the Japan Cup, or he'll get a break and head right over to Dubai to get ready for the Desert Turf Classic next year!

Re: Gibraltar
Four wins in a row, and his second grade one victory in the Japanese St. Leger! He is now up to 8-6-1-1 and $644,000. After that, I have (following a certain somebody's advice that finally made up my mind *cough*) made the decision that I was tossing around to go straight to Dubai to prep for the Desert Turf Classic.
Gibraltar could be on the ballot for Asian Champion Three-Year-Old Colt, so keep him in mind!

Re: Gibraltar
I went to jog Gibraltar today and accidentally hit "gallop". Fan-freaking-tastic. I hope that doesn't mess up his week one-week three schedule before the big Dubai race.

Re: Gibraltar
Gibraltar's full sister gave me one of the few bright spots of yearling gallops. She is just like him and galloped "wow". Go Catalan Bay!

Re: Gibraltar
Thanks Marzy, we're going to need it! North American Champion Turf Male and Steward's Cup Turf winner Pingu is already entered in the Magic Carpet, as well as Lucas Davenport's nice two-mile specialist After Shocks. Time to test the waters!

Re: Gibraltar
Gibraltar was a very solid second behind a monstrous performance by Pingu, running a speed figure of 81. On to the Desert Turf Classic and this horse's first normal (no long ship in between) three-week break in his entire career!
