Do yearlings improve or no? I galloped all my late bloomers and they stayed late bloomers but nothing changed.

My late blooming pretty filly is still late blooming at 5.5. I'm beginning to think time is up now. The way she's been building up expectations she would have had to win the SC Classic as a nine year old. Twice! :D
*headdesks*

She got herself a new soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ

(I love this horse, I just wish I had retired her a year ago)

They can, but rarely.

Two big takeaways for me are that Mike Bryant will be happy with this, and * am I going to do with two AWR freaks!

Had a bunch of my 3yo late bloomers remain late bloomers which sucks haha, and one stakes LB went up to stakes peak. Another 2yo went stakes LB—>stakes peak too and everyone else stayed the same. No yearling changes as per usual.
Another one to add, a very odd one!
'See You in the Dark': Freaky! This horse looks to be about at their peak, but even I can’t always predict the future!

This one was born stakes late bloomer, peaked to freak at 2.5, and then went back to stakes at the threshold change. For reference, he was still galloping stakes peak week 6 of this year!

Had this guy Fall Too Deep improve from Allowance late bloomer to Stakes peak, though his dam has some really nice breeding she is only a Formidable and only a B+ nick. Very happy.

Otherwise I had some productive and allowance runners go from late bloomer to peak and one productive late bloomer go to allowance peak. It's all good.

So, this is really interesting. This dude by Conquerer slipped through the cracks and I didn't notice him jump from claimer to stakes when I regalloped him. I've never had a horse jump that much, so that's quite a novelty.

Here's the kicker, though. He was already "peak claimer."

Y59-W8-D7 Galloped
Y59-W8-D7 Trainer: 'Horse 61129016938' is a very special animal. This horse looks to be about at their peak, but even I can’t always predict the future!
Y59-Preseason Galloped
Y59-Preseason Trainer: Right now, 'Horse 61129016938' looks like a claimer, but don't despair because they are a solid source of income, and can always improve with racing experience! This horse looks to be about at their peak, but even I can’t always predict the future!

I'm sure he is an obvious exception to the rule, but be careful throwing away those peak claimers when they're so young!

I'm late to the party, but I had a lot more improvers than I have had in years past. I was quite pleased.

TBs:

Edited to add this crowning glory of a filly that just made my heart leap. I clicked on her today for some reason, not really knowing why, and looked at her workout times. They'd taken a huge jump, so I just paid the GPs to check her talent. This brat that started off her yearling year as a progressive claimer...is now a progressive FREAK.

I've never had a TM freak, so when Fight the Good Fight improved, I was a bit over the moon. I claimed his dam for $65k and her first foal is a G1 winner, so she is rapidly becoming my second favorite claim of all time (behind High Dreams, of course).

May It Be was a very pleasant surprise. She had some fast works for a stakes, but I wasn't expecting an improvement to freak. Star dam was a slow racehorse and had only two productive foals prior to this one.

Song of Wyoming is my first freak TR colt since Imperative out of a mare who was underwhelming for the first half of her breeding career before throwing four stakes gallopers in her last five foals. This guy going to freak made my day.

Keeper of Stories went from allowance to stakes. He's part of my continuing effort to rebuild the very fun but small string of TS that I used to have.

Kingdom Fall also went from allowance to stakes.

Mixers:

The Flash Factor is only my second freak QH, first since Firebringer (who is now 18). Since I've had a small string of them for years, it's about darn time!

All Hallows' Eve was a bit of a surprise going from stakes to freak. Hopefully she lives up to her cool new name.

Girl in the Box gave my boy Prodigal Son another freak, improving from stakes.

My trotters have never been anywhere near as good as my pacers, but Regal Holiday gave me another freak to play with in that division.

Brave the War improved from allowance to stakes to become my first Paint router stakes galloper.

I still have a boatload of late blooming or progressive stakes and allowance gallopers that I hope make the jump next year.

Pretty girl Lost in Starlight just won her first stakes and I had to check for talent. Improved from stakes late bloomer to freak. My first me bred freak (chasers still don't count)! 😀
