My Specialty

Post by Lea McPherson »

My Specialty is my first Steward's Cup placed runner in the 3 SIM years I have been playing. She has done really well in her 2YO campaign and I can't wait for Year 24!

My Specialty returned to the Winner's Circle today taking the ungraded Cotton Avenue Stakes. I'm delighted to see the hammering from Deep Fried at the SC hasn't knocked her confidence. Her next race is likely to be the Swan Stakes (G2) in Osaka, although there is a little voice saying "ship to South Africa to take on Deep Focus" ringing in my head. decisions, decisions.

We're entered for Week 8's Instant Million Cup! I'll probably chicken and head for the Duet Stakes instead once more entries come in hahaha. But, Deep Fried was brave and took the boys on, so I have to be brave with this filly too! She had a nice brisk jog this morning, so I'll have to keep an eye since shes coming on 4 weeks without a race...

She could only manage 5th against the boys, her first time at seven furlongs and against boys was too much, but at least I know now, I'm glad I ran her. She's now off to South Africa for a Week 10 race, back down to 6 furlongs and back against fillies, hopefully she'll bounce back and be able to confidently make her final preperations for the Steward's Cup.

Her final 2 races are going to be extremely tough. She has had a nice break, now shes running in this : http://www.simhorseracing.com/race.php?RaceID=76849 , then to the Steward's Cup Filly and Mare Turf Sprint. After the Steward's Cup she will be retired and will visit the amazing colt, Just, who will also be retiring after the Steward's Cup. I feel somehow that I havent let this filly fulfill her potential, but I hope I can do a much better job with my future horses and her progeny.

Following a disappointing year mainly due to my incompetance My Specialty has been retired, and is the only broodmare of mine not to ship to a racetrack in the crazy shipping spree.
