Annual Beagle & Clampett Mixed Names IS CLOSED!!

Post by Jeb Clampett »

BACKGROUND, PRIZES AND RULES

Everyone is welcome to enter. You can only win one time initially, but, as usual, after a few days, we will probably be opening it up again to everyone.

The contest gives 20 sets of 3 clues each. Your job is to identify the SIM horse described in the clues. SIM horses may be of any breed, active, retired, pensioned or deceased, but each horse must have SIM race earnings of at least $100,000.

Mixed up names can be:
Alternate meanings for horse name (for example: Defeated by Musical Rhythm = Beat By Beat)
Restatements of name (for example: What an EKG Detects = Beatofmyheart)
There may also be puns, anagrams, and other such devilish tricks. We can’t give away TOO much here.

Great thanks to Bill Outsilver, Cathie Morris, Cleo Patra, Iggy Timeeczech, Kelley Wachter, and Ramey Furney for sending in puzzles!
A word of caution: as the puzzles were made up by different people, they will not be completely consistent. For example, capital letters may matter in one puzzle, but not in another; sometimes a run together clue will signify a horse with a run together name, but don't count on it; where the clues “sound out” a horse's name syllable by syllable, sometimes they'll be separated by a “+”, sometimes a “;”and sometimes not at all, and so on.

To win a prize, you need to correctly identify all three of the SIM horses described in any ONE of the sets. Disclaimer: "This game is intended to be fun; the authors realize that there may be arguments for more than one 'correct' answer. However, to make it fair to all, we must only accept what we have come up with. Sorry if you don't like a clue or its answer, but we've tested and retested all of these, and must stick to our guns! Thanks for understanding! - Leonard and Jeb"

The first players to get a set correct gets their pick of any prize still available.

Entering:
You can answer in either of two ways:
First, find each horse's ID number, add them up and post only the total. (To find the horses ID#, go to the horse's page and look at up at the URL address; the horse's ID# is given at the end of the address.)
So, for example, if I thought the right answers to Set #13 were A Bus, A Crown Awaits, and Acapulco, I would add 9415 + 14273 + 18042 = 41730 so I would post ONLY: (Set 13) 41730
-OR-
Post one horse's name and the sum of the other two. For example, if the answers actually were Awestruck, A Crown Awaits and Acapulco and you posted: Set 13 - A Bus; 32315; you'd get back the response No and Yes. This way, you get more information, but you give away more information to others.

More Rules:
You may enter as many times as you want until you win, but only win once until we announce differently.
ONLY ONE GUESS PER POST. You will need to wait until you get a YES or NO from Jeb, Leo or Ronnie Dee before you can post any new answer to any set. We'll try to be prompt!

Discussing/brainstorming/asking/bouncing ideas off of/working with anybody inside or outside of the SIM while you're solving these puzzles is perfectly fine. So go, talk, chat, message ... just have fun; that's the whole point! (But please don't use this thread – it gets very crowded already.) The only thing you might want to remember is that it's likely that we will be opening up the contest again later -- you might not want to give away an answer that might get you another win!

Starting when 15 sets have been solved, we'll add a little Lagniappe or “sweetener” to each prize:
