The Making It Rain SimDerby Contest
After narrowly missing a nice pick 4 on Oaks day, I hit a decent one having the Preakness pick 4 a couple of times. That means it time to spend some money on the sim before I give it back to various gambling establishments. AC already took it's donation.
This time it's a similar contest to the Price is Right Contest I ran a couple of seasons ago.
Handicap the Louisville Derby and pick the WINNER and the WINNER'S SPEED FIGURE. Picks must be submitted before the Steward's live race call. No DUPLICATE selections allowed.
If you pick the winner and guess the exact speed figure you win 200k GP's.
If you pick the winner and guess within 1 points of the speed figure without going over you win 100k GP's.
If you pick the winner and guess within 3 points of the speed figure without going over you win 50k GP's.
If you pick the winner and guess within 5 points of the speed figure without going over you win 25k GP's.
If you pick the winner and guess within 10 points of the speed figure without going over you win 15k GP's.
If you pick the winner but go OVER the speed figure you don't win anything!
There can only be ONE winner so the closest without going over wins. If noone picks the winner or comes within 10 points of the speed figure without going over then 5k GP's will be given to all winning selections regardless of the speed figure pick. If noone can correctly select the derby winner than I shouldn't have to give out GP's.
NO CHANGING PICKS ONCE THEY ARE POSTED!! If you do then you are DQ'ed.

Yes, there will still be a handicapping contest for week 6, this is just something extra!

Miss Danner's horse The Awakening....SF 94.
It's tough, because this is probably going to be a really deep field.
I think her colt has developed enough front end speed to stay out of trouble early and could hang on here.
Like the fact that he stayed close to Kentucky his last outing after the early campaigning in California and Texas. I think the trip from California took something out of him in the Texan Derby, but that wont be a problem here. Won't be travel weary, and should get in front and stay there at the end.

I always pay attention when Eric Hamme talks about horses running in Maryland.

I'm a big fan of works for a indication of a horses potential. And HR's works were fantastic.
Hes also not a front-runner, which I think can get run over some times in large races.
