I have just seen a 350 yard dash at Sunland Park . Is it normal in American races to run such short distances?

In England 5f is the shortest race distance.

It is for Quarter Horses. The longest Qh race in the US is 1000 yards About 4.5 furlongs)Most run 350, 400, 440 (Classic distnace), 550, or 870. (all in yards) there are a few 250 and even fewrer 100 yards (takes about 6.5 seconds)

Aaah thanks Jo , i didn't hear it was for Quarter Horses.

It's 8.30 pm here and i'm watching racing from Sunland Park (arizona) Tampa bay Downs and Turf Paradise (so cal).

I wish i was in all those locations , its cold and wet in England!
