ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 4, 2007)—Santa Anita fans will able to participate in a first ever on-line handicapping contest called Showvivor, beginning Wednesday, Jan. 10. The contest will feature $10,000 in prize money, with a $5,000 prize to the top finisher.
In order to participate, fans should check the entries and then go to www.Santaanita.com and submit a selection no later than 10 minutes before each day’s first race. “Showvivor” players must select one horse per day and will remain alive as long that horse finishes no worse than third. Once a selected horse finishes out of the money, that player is eliminated.
The top ten survivors will share in $10,000 in prizes, including a $5,000 award to the top finisher. “Showvivor” will continue as long as two or more players remain alive. The contest ends when there is just one surviving player.

lol... me too... thou "wagering" on a horse with 4/5 odds i hardly consider the most noble way to go.
what is slightly amusing is that it totally followed the 60% rule: that the favorite horses in each race win-place-or-show 60% of the time.
at this rate... the contest will be done in approx 15 days.
