I had this error when i loaded it up via the forums intead of in game if that helps

My chat just hangs when it loads now...but I did 64 updates so one of them is probably interfering with it.

Does anyone know what programs are needed to run the chat, i.e. java, flash player or anything like that. I'm troubleshooting to see why I can't access it.

I uses Java. It doesn't use flash.

Thanks! I thought mine was java too but since the reboot and updates, I just get the endless circle icon. My Adobe Acrobat Readers somehow died too. Something must have messed up Java.
