8 furlongs is 1 mile. If you're looking at past performances for real horses, a lot of European/Japanese races are measured in meters, in which case 1 mile = 1600m. 200m = 1/8 mile = 1 furlong

Haha Eric, only measured in metres due to bureaucracy. We still have it in furlongs and yards here sooooooo
1f = 440 yards (i think)

440 = 2 furlongs. Since that's classic distance for a Quarter horse that is athe true Quarter Mile.

220 yards = 1 furlong
