Only five racers, a win and a second.
Borrow the Moon came in second and is finally starting to live up to her potential.
Chateau de If and Three of Dreams were a disapointing 5th and 4th but we'll try again next time. Fight Admirably will be switched to steeplechasing after his very dissapointing finish.
But as far as steeplechasing goes... Sherman won by 10! So excited. Maybe I have something here.

I had a highly interesting first week, with some horses I had hope for bombing, and some putting in surprisingly good performances.
Highlights:
Dare won the Astridefromvictory Stakes, beating some good three year olds and proving Anthem sires some very nice sprinters.
250k purchase Docile made a start on earning back his purchase price, winning a 4 1/2 furlong maiden at Futurity Park by a good length and a half.
Focused made his steeplechase debut over a massive four miles, came second despite some somewhat dodgy jumping. Although it's going to be really hard to sort out the 'chasers for a while, quite pleased to have some showing promise.
My 'mistake' filly, Pop Culture, came second in a 5 1/2 furlong dirt sprint...maybe she'll even win a race for me. So mad with myself for breeding when tired, but eh.
Long Story also came second in a short race...looks like SHE may be a sprinter as well. Hrm.
Kitty Gaze came third in her debut, although there were only five entrants, so I'm not sure what I learn from it. Hrm.
Another steeplechaser, Letthedancerdream, whom I bought late last year as a chasing prospect, came third, and might have done better if he had not run out of room between horses.
Sing The Sorrow also came third in a one mile race.
Not a bad week, really.

I had a good first week back. Went 6:2-2-0
The two off the board finishes were slightly disappointing, especially Ardor. I'm thinking he needs to stay between 7f and a mile. The 2yo off the board finish was a shot in the dark, anyway, so I'm sad, but not surprised.
I got two nice 2nds. One with a filly who I really thought would win first out, Without Fail. But she lost to a potential freak in Burning Skies. Good luck with that one, Dave! Also got 2nd in an open Allowance with Faded Belief, a horse whose pedigree screams superstar. Now I just have to figure out how to get him there. More distance should do it...
I got a nice maiden with with a home-bred, Luminescent. She's by recently pensioned Star Studded. She won a 4 1/2 maiden on the turf by 2. I think she's pretty!
The big win, though. The real important score. My new favorite horse since Throne retired won his fourth race in a row, making him 4-4, 3 of which were stakes. My wonderful, amazing, to die for home-bred... TESTAMENT! Ok, so I'm probably more excited than I should be, but this horse makes me so happy! He's by my favorite stallion in RL, a stallion who I was desperate to do well, and this horse will put him on the map! GO TESTAMENT!
I'd also like to point out that my stallion Bienamado got a 2yo victory this week, as well. Good Dancer won well, if not greenly, going 4.5f on the turf. To be honest, I'm shocked, as 'Mado was a distance specialist... but I won't complain! Congrats Mallory!

Very good week! Lots of placings, but 3 little 2yo colts came through and won their sprint maidens! A 2yo colt got 2nd and 2 2yo fillies grabbed 2nds as well. I got some stakes and allowance placings with my 3yos, but no one really bombed. Yay!!

I had a weird week.
7 : 1 - 0 - 3
Up: Two horses I had given up on and was about to sell did some rump kicking... a 1st and 3rd in maidens after some equip changes. I took 3rd in the Glacial Princess stakes with 2 yo Ultraviolet on her first run!
Down: My proven listed stakes 4yo sprinter Cactus Sunrise flopped in an allowance. One of my really promising 3 yo sprinters that was always OTB last year pulled a 9th after I added a sr and tt, I totally thought he had that race. One of Daryl's babies that I was excited at having bought did a dissapointing 9th in his first start as well.

$594k + 53k breeder cash - 99 runners: 12-23-20 (3 stakes - 6 maiden - 4 2 yr olds)
My babies went nuts. I didn't count, but a LOT of those place finishes were juvies. The big gun running was Waverider who won a Group dirt mile in Dubai.
This week was a nice surprise because most of my top horses went Week 15 or 16 last season. Luckily my sprinter babies are keeping my stats reasonable before the more reliable horses return.

My week was much better than the last couple, but I am still dissappointed how some ran. From 19 races I went 2-1-4. I got a stakes win with Greatness Revealed which I am very happy with, four thirds in stakes races with Good Temper, Lightning Bolt, Riches In the Snow, and Snow Nose. My 2 year olds were disappointing though Sight To Behold who I had high hopes for finished 8th, my best finish came with Dead Or Alive out of the best out of the four with a 4th place finish.

Raced only three, all at Trial Park:
1-1-0
Quahar broke his maiden with a nice 2 1/2 length win. He goes to Madrano for a rest till week four.
Barbaro's Dream placed, losing out to Maureen's Havanna Daydreamin by 1/2. Taking Sarah's advice and not changing much. She'll head to Madrano as well .
I'm hooked and I haven't even gotten started yet. Plenty to come in week two and, in the meantime, there will be a new column this weekend on the results and my observations .
