ELIMINATOR Challenge! Check this out now, pick due Thursday

Post by Scott Eiland »

Can you pick NFL games better than me? How about the rest of the SIM (out of those who wish to compete.)

If so, it's time to play the SIM eliminator challenge! (unofficial. Not endorsed by The Steward, Alexandra Jaysman, Stacy Paris, or any person anywhere.)

Seriously, though, I set up an Eliminator challenge on the ESPN Eliminator website. The rules are simple: Pick one team to win every NFL week (before either a Thursday night kickoff or Sunday)

And why not make it interesting?

Interested parties post here that you're interested, then follow the directions below. As far as prizes go, I'm thinking the EASIEST way to go is for everyone interested in participating throw in 1000 GPs, with the prizes to be dispersed when the winner is assured (whether that would be Week 17 or, as is often the case, is much sooner).

I figure if we get 20-30 people we can pay the top four at a percentage of 50/25/15/10. Or some reasonable percentage if I'm overestimating its popularity.

Since the season starts TOMORROW, I'm going to go ahead and set it up that way. 1,000 in SIM points. Use your SIM name on the site (name your entry your SIM name) and make your pick before kickoff of the Packers-Saints tomorrow.

go here to set it up.

Group: The SIM
Password: Maelstrom

Then pick one team from the Week 1 games that you are picking to win. You may not pick that team again this season, so choose wisely!

Then send me 1k SIM points. I'll keep track of prizes and disperse them once we have a winner. If we all flame out by week 8 or so (likely) we'll talk about doing this again (and people who miss the week 1 game can then jump in). (if you need me to float you for a week or so while you cobble together some GPs, that's okay, just let me know.)

Good luck! I hope other people besides me are interested.

Cool deal. Just make sure your game status reads "picked" once you've signed up and picked a week one opponent. First pick the game you want, then the winner.

I'm in - But just because I am doing non-sim things with simsters doesn't mean I'm a nerd or anything (said in my best Fonzi voice).

I always hate week One in these pools - no track records on the season, and week one match-ups always seem tight.

Jon you get an A for the mechanics and a D- for gamesmanship. It won't show for other league members--even me--until picks freeze tomorrow night. This way we can execute a level of subterfuge. But yes. You're in. Next week you get to pick again unless Toronto ...err buffalo...wins

I'm in. I know nothing about football. Couldn't we do one for rugby world cup, or six nations????
