Steward's Year 33 Derby Contest

Post by The Steward »

The best-bred and fastest-working juveniles in the game have all been unleashed on the SIM, and they have posted high speed figures and excessive winning margins. What does this have to do with the Year 33 Louisville Derby?

Well, in Year 28, 70% of the 20 runners had broken their maidens by Week 10 Friday, and 80% by Week 11 Friday. In Year 29, 80% of the runners had won by Week 10 Friday, and 90% by Week 11 Friday. That means we can guess that nearly all of next year's Derby field is already out there somewhere. There are already 1,000+ juveniles that have won this year. Can you pick out the 20 that will make it to the Derby?

Think of this as a year-out Triple Crown Trail where you pick all 20 horses. You must make your selections by Friday, April 13 at noon Pacific.

EMAIL (use the contact us link on every SIM page!!!) me with your 20 Derby horses in alphabetical order for NEXT year. For every horse you have on your list that ends up in the race, you will get a point. Whoever gets the most points, there is a pot of 50,000 Game Points waiting. It will be divided amongst multiple winners if there are any.

Don't forget to check out fillies and horses entered for Week 12!

Note for this year: It really helps when you just list the horses

Instead of saying Horse, Horse Horse or

1. Horse
2. Horse

Just alphabetical names are better!

The results of this contest are in!

Alex Puderbaugh and Eric Nalbone both had 13 horses picked! Out of 20 that's pretty typical, but only 17 ran, so that's pretty crazy! They will split the 50,000 GP jackpot.

Jon Smythe, Paul Heinrich and Emily White each had 12. Better luck next time!

Strangely enough, there were LOTS of 10's and 11's, typical. Vortex was the horse most added that didn't run. But the strange part is, only like 4 people out of 60 picked Voldemort, while nearly everyone had Harry Potter. The Dark Lord is ANGRY!

Well I'm proud to have been one of the 4 people to pick Voldemort, I guess people assumed he would aim at the Long Island Classic, which I'm assuming he now will.

Can we please have the double contest for the Steward's Cups, like SC Juvy/SC Fillies Juvy or Distaff/Classic?

I think I ended up with 10, which is okay. I've come to enjoy just going through the eligibles. I don't have a lot of dirt horses, so it's fun to visit new faces. Thoroughly enjoyed the process, thanks for that. And a big congrats to Alex and Eric-well done!
