Press Release - Nursery Stud
Nursery Stud's broodmare manager was fired today, after owner Laura Ferguson learned that her prize broodmare, Desert Darkness (dam of California and Del Mar), had died, not from the manager, but from the Feature Race. "Such lack of communication is inexcusable. This isn't rocket science. If you can take the time to call the press, you can certainly take the time to contact the owner," said Ferguson. Ferguson will assume the responsibilities of broodmare director in the interim and will begin seeking a replacement after the Derby.

Sorry for your loss though. That sucks major big time.
But back to the issue at hand. I was shocked when I saw this mare was already gone. My deepest sympathies - it's really crushing to lose one, especially a nice one, so suddenly and unexpectedly.
