I haven't read all the posts about steeplechasing here, but was wondering if like the flat races, if there will be some kind of nominated-horses only series for the steeplechasers?
I don't know that much about steeplechasing races...really only heard of the Grand National. Do they have a set series of races like our Triple Crown or Breeders Cup series where a horse can only get in if nominated earlier on in it's career?
I've looked at the steeplechase stakes races page, but didn't see any mention of a series there.

I think I miss-titled my post, sorry.
I listened to that pod cast of the Derby, that was fun....will be interested to see how the announcer calls a long long long jump race. : )
I was thinking more along the lines of a series or set of races rather than seperate big races. Just like the Breeders Cup and Triple Crown series eleminates non-nominated horses....is there a steeplechase series made up of 3 or 4 big races that can only be entered if one puts up nominations. Of course, being that this is the first year of steeplechasing...that's probably not likely...when I get to thinking about it. But perhaps future events? Like I said, I don't know that much about real steeplechasing to know if they have a 'steeplechase triple crown' or a series of races reserved for nominated only horses.
