Not a great crop of 3 y/os this year?

Post by Chani Ruzzo »

Albeit I didn't get a single hazard in my crop, I got a lot of potentials out of greatest strengths/natural producing mares by stallions I thought were nice.

Did anyone else get a surprising crop this year?

Stallions that did not seem to perform well when crossed were:

Prize Bull
Appear
Zipless II
Elfstedentocht (no surprise there - will be pensioned)
Chased Away
Son Of Light
Leap of Faith
Skeptic

If anyone wants to buy the potentials they are unraced and listed $1-$1000 and I haven't made them into chasers yet.

I had expected a little more out of my crop too...

Naturals from Cowboy Mac, Jete, Song For Ten, Pigeon Island (& a wings galloping yearling), Skeptic, Tschikmo, Smash Into Me

Potentials from Elfstedentocht, Mine Those Stars, Star Attraction, Broadsword, Unclench Your Fist, Yeats, Chretiens

No hazards! (Out of those intended for chasing)

I had more potentials this year than last year, but over all the crop still had 17 naturals in it if I counted right so I can live with it.

The naturals were sired by: Mine Those Stars (x10), Broadsword (x3), Pigeon Island (x2), Cowboy Mac, and Manayunk.

I'm happy to say I had no hazards as well but other than that my crop came out as expected. Only 4 potentials from my small crop of 14 and they came from mares I didn't expect much from and had already marked to get rid of.

The Potentials are by: Chretiens, Fervor, Skeptic, and Leap of Faith

The Naturals are by: Do Something, Moment of Clarity, Pigeon Island (x2), Otia (galloped Wings as well), Leap of Faith, Song for Ten, Star Conquest, and Cowboy Mac (x2)

Not to hijack the thread, but has anyone tried any Moment of Clarity offspring over jumps yet? I haven't gotten anything good from him as far as flat racers go, but found it interesting he got some naturals. Maybe that is his "greatest strength"?
