Re: Break Updates Thread
If you go to My Office and look under the training barn, you will see that there is a new alternate barns that can used for various purposes.

I can see that thanks Patrick. But what is it for?

Re: Break Updates Thread
They're to help you organize your stable, should you find a use for them. See this thread: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=31773
You could make a priority racing string and a claimer racing string. A female barn and a male barn. A turf barn and a dirt barn. A place where underage arabians get clustered. A training barn for horses you're planning on keeping vs. horses you're planning on selling. A breeding barn that gets your stallions/foals out of the way leaving just your unbred mares in one place. A barn for all horses whose names begin with the letter A-M, then a separate barn for N-Z. A barn for all horses who are in danger of being gelded. A barn for all horses whose names contain more than six letters. Edited to add: you can still, however, only pick one of those options at a time for each of your breeding, training, racing barns. Can't have six alternate barns, as far as I know!
Basically ... anything that you find that you think may be a useful way to help you organize and sub-divide your stable, which means that if you haven't wished for the ability to sub-divide your stable it's not life changing (or even life altering, necessarily). But if you have wished to split out groups of your horses, you now essentially have one "extra" dimension to play with beyond clever classification of horse types & waiting to assign names.

Re: Break Updates Thread
In looking at the alternatives available to spend $150K, I prefer giving $150K to Eric for an extra breeding to JV and Doc (or 3 breedings to Doc) every 20 weeks.

50k for 20 weeks rounds out to 2.5k a week for an alternate barn. As a player that is routinely at around 200k in my bank I don't think it's too bad.

I have no reason for an alternate barn or a spreadsheet. So this is a 'whatever' moment for me.

I have stacks on top of stacks, i have no use for this, free or not.Patrick Noto wrote:"But the $50k isn't a deal breaker."
If I had over $40,000,000 in my account, it would not be a deal breaker either. BUT since I don't, it is. I don't see why I should have to write articles or do any other extra work to pay for them. I spend a lot of time picking horses and races because that is why I play the game. I pay to be a SIMperior player and have benefits that other players don't (if they don't want to or can't afford to pay). My feeling is that the alternate barns should not require spending additional SIM dollars for. Again, JMO. Pat

So the alt barns is like you OWN farm and when I place a horse in that barn I DON'T pay board if my horse was at say Badlands Horse Camp?

Re: Break Updates Thread
The new barns have nothing to do with the amount of board you pay. It is just a new barn to divide your horses into 2 categories if you want to. People who don't have many horses probably won't use these new barns at all. I have like 900 racers so I use the new barn to seperate them into a barn of mostly Wows and consistent racers and one barn of everything else.

It's like how you have a "breeding barn" and a "racing barn," they are just visual ways of organizing your horses. Each horse in the breeding barn and racing barn are still at actual locations like Badlands Horse Camp.Tyler Anthony wrote:So the alt barns is like you OWN farm and when I place a horse in that barn I DON'T pay board if my horse was at say Badlands Horse Camp?
The difference is that the game automatically sorts horses in your breeding and racing barns. If you feel like you could organize them better yourself, you can manually separate horses into the alternate racing barn.

Re: Break Updates Thread
I would like to know how many are going to pay to use the alternative barns. What should have been a great update to the game where every player would probably have used it, will now be used by only those who can presently afford it. I will eventually use the barns when I have enough capital because I think they are an excellent addition to the game. Right now I will just handle my horses the way I have up till now.

I am using the alt racing barn but I haven't felt the need to use the alt breeding or training barn at this time but maybe I will use them in the future.

Re: Break Updates Thread
More of a technical question, but when horses grow up, will they transfer from "alt training" into "alt racing" or will they be thrown into the "general population" barn at the turn of the year?
Re: Break Updates Thread
They would transfer to the Alt Racing barn if you have that available.Corey Lange wrote:More of a technical question, but when horses grow up, will they transfer from "alt training" into "alt racing" or will they be thrown into the "general population" barn at the turn of the year?
