Re: Gallops
Based on all the reports of specials becoming wows, I would hope that the 1% change is on a bell curve - at least that's what I want to believe since I also lost my only homebred TB special.
I don't mind the gallop comment changing as much as I miss the money I spent insuring a yearling that I thought was special!

Re: Gallops
Curious: what are the "endpoints" of the scale? i.e. how big of a (relative) deal is .01?The Steward wrote:The ratings for gallop comments have been changed by .01 for this coming year. If you had a horse that had just made it onto, say, the wow scale it's possible that horse is now back on a wings scale because of this change.

Re: Gallops
I personally would rather a Scary go back down to Wow if he/she was only Scary by .01%! Because all it will do is make me want to punch it.lol

Re: Gallops
Last year I had 5 wow yearlings. I sold one, three went down to wings so now I only have 1 two year old wow (only applies to TBs, my mixers didn't change). But on the plus side my stakes winner Wish Upon a Storm went up to Very Special.

Oh Yay!!
I just loved paying $300k for one wow/wing
and $150k for 3 more. Tickles me to death.
Games hard enough to compete without
getting kicked in the Kyoons.

Reminds me of our government.
The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. lol
I guess we'll always be negatively affected by the 1%.
This rule would have tightened the competition if
applied to the specials and higher.
Oh well, not into politics anyway.

Re: Gallops
Your horses ability hasn't changed. If the scale is 1-10, and your horse was a 7.1, with say 7 being a wow, he is still 7.1, just now takes a 7.2 to be a wow, or whatever number you want to use. At the end of the day, the ability of the horse has not changed, just the comment associated with it.

Thanks Abe, that helps to understand it better.
Couldn't help but feel cheated at first glance. lol
So now if a horse comes up for sale between two people,
we just need to communicate that the said horse was affected
by the 1% adjustment.

Abe did do a really good job of explaining it, thanks Abe!
