"Emergency" SIM Summit 2015

Post by The Steward »

The admin is here for an unexpected visit, and what better time to tackle some SIM things than now?

Post will be bumped when new things are added.

Friday:
Switched to a new broadcasting service for broadcast nights
Added host track to Steward's Cup archives
Broodmare sire rankings in stud book

Saturday
You can now Ask the Bloodstock Agent on Steward-bred mares

Other issues being handled at the moment:
Switching to a new server company - still working on it!
A new chat room
"There's no secret to training a good horse. It's a matter of being fortunate enough to get one."
"Funny how you often regret the stuff you didn't do more than the stuff you did do" - GG

IF you are looking for a new chat solution - can you find one that doesn't use Flash. Firefox is constantly disabling it due to its bugginess and security risk.

Heck there's all sorts of 'broadacsting' options. The stream as is is for video, em doesn't really use the video option. TS or other chat only options would be better. Even making a chat, which probably the Admin could do or others, would actually change the lag that happens. I couldn't ever understand why the streaming option was used.

EDIT: Of course twitch streaming is pretty good too, and their broadcasting is a bit better. Not to mention you can lock it for password too I believe.

Don't worry Dave, there's no Flash :-) But the current chat also doesn't use Flash, it uses Java... and in good news, there's ALSO no Java.

I am just loving this server mini drama. Kudos for kicking them to the curb.

Awww...these long delays on results nights were making me wax nostalgic to the old days when I'd click the refresh button like 23 times only to see the red letters of misery scream "18 min, 26 sec..."

We've been spoiled...soooo spoiled these last few years!
