Looking down the list of the top 50, it's pretty fascinating to see how much the addition of Cumberbatch has influenced the top times. So many of those 1:50's (and 1:49's) are sired by him. As recently as Year 41, all the top 50 yearling times but one were in the 1:51's. There were Cumberbatch babies in that lot, too, but that was his first crop.

Re: Insane workout times pacers
Okay, not to burst anyone's bubble, but is it possible there's a glitch in the workout times today? I went over and looked at the Trotters, and of the three that worked Week 16 Friday, each made a huge leap from their previous times, usually using the same equipment as they had before:
Fear of Fighting:
Year 43 Week 16 (Fri)
1:52.47
Year 43 Week 15 (Thu)
1:54.09
Mister Power:
Year 43 Week 16 (Fri)
1:52.61
Year 43 Week 15 (Thu)
1:54.33
Horse 1447242210:
Year 43 Week 16 (Fri)
1:52.74
Year 43 Week 15 (Thu)
1:54.23
While I would love to believe these times, because they're fantastic, they're so far out of the normal Trotter realm (record race time is 1:53.60), they wouldn't seem out of place in low-level Pacer claimers. The same type of huge leaps happened with the Pacers mentioned in Geir's previous post, who also all worked today (usually with the same equipment as before):
Horse 1447324875:
Year 43 Week 16 (Fri)
1:49.38
Year 43 Week 15 (Thu)
1:51.09
Horse 1447326476:
Year 43 Week 16 (Fri)
1:49.62
Year 43 Week 9 (Wed)
1:51.43
Howdy Edgar:
Year 43 Week 16 (Fri)
1:49.80
Year 43 Week 13 (Wed)
1:51.55
Bowlin for Dollars:
Year 43 Week 16 (Fri)
1:49.85
Year 43 Week 9 (Wed)
1:51.88
Horse 1447325976:

Year 43 Week 9 (Wed)

Horse 1447325576:
Year 43 Week 16 (Fri)
1:49.89
Year 43 Week 9 (Wed)
1:51.78
I'm going to post this in the Tech Support forum to see what's going on.

Re: Insane workout times pacers
So, yeah, with the new time adjustments I have no idea how my horses stack up to everyone else's. (See Em's reply to my post in Tech Support.) This will take some getting used to. I suppose it will clear up once races start again.
(I just worked most of my Trotter yearlings so my Trotters are like the whole top 35 except for a few of Geir's. People need to work their Trotters because my yearlings are not that good! )

Everything was adjusted by 2 seconds across the board.

That is definitely going to take some getting used too...Is it two seconds off always?

Re: Insane workout times pacers
Yeah, I'm just starting to write up the Trotter Stakes Report for Week 1 and these times seem REALLY weird. Will definitely take getting used to! In my imagination, I'm picturing it as a sudden change in sulky technology, kind of like those full-body swimsuits they invented about ten years ago that allowed to swimmers break world records every time out.
