Mixed Up Program Handicapping Contest - Year 44

Post by Jo Ferris »

The MUP handicapping contest will be returning for Year 44. This is open to EVERYONE! However, I do encourage seasoned Mixed Breed trainers to play in the Scorpion handicapping contest to allow new Mixer trainers to win more horses. If you are a seasoned Mixer trainer trying to get into a new Mixer division, feel free to play, but if your trying to win horses in a division you are experienced in, I strongly encourage you not to play.

**This will be the only way MUP will be giving away horses!!**

This will be run very close to the way the Scorpion Handicapping Contest is run. You will get 4 points for a win, 2 for second and 1 for third. I will though pick 6 races instead of 5. However, due to a very limited prize barn, I am changing up the way this contest ran last year. Stakes yearlings will NOT be given away every week, instead, stakes yearlings will be given away to the highest combined score every other week. So the highest combined score for weeks 2 and 3 will get a stakes prize, then the highest score for weeks 4 and 5 will get a stakes and so on. Because there are no stakes being given out every week, for the weekly scores the top two players will win an allowance horse.

There will be 15 weeks in this contest, your top 10 scores will be used so you get 5 drops. (same as Scorpion handicapping)

The highest combined score every other week will win a stakes galloping horse, the winner will have their choice of the breeds we have. Here is the current list for our stakes horses:
Appys (1)
Paints (4)
Quarter Horse (1)
Trotter (1)
Pacer (1)

The top two scores each week will win an Allowance galloping horse. They will have their choice of breed. Here's the current list of breeds we have (seperated by age, any without an age next to them are yearlings):
Appy (1)*2yo
Appy (8)
Arabian (1)*5yo
Arabian (2)
Paint (6)*4yo
Paint (2)*2yo
Paint (1)
Trotter (2)*2yo
Trotter (5)
Pacer (1)*2yo
Pacer (4)
Quarter Horse (4)

You may win as many horses as you can win, no limits.

Scores of 22 or above (5 winners and a second) will be awarded a Freak Appy yearling, we have two this year both sprinters, one filly, one colt, so this will could happen twice this year. Also, if there is a score of 22 or above prizes will be awarded down to third place. If the score of 22+ comes from an established Appy Sprint trainer/breeder, it will be treated like a normal week with just the stakes and allowance being given away.

In the event of a tie, I will pick a tiebreaker race for the players in the tie to PM MUP with their pick to win and the race time (Only used if 2 or more players have the same pick). Due to a small prize barn this year, ties will most likely always end in a tiebreaker. However, I may be able to donate some Paint Allowance yearlings/2yos from my personal barn for a few weeks

If you have the same picks as someone else, whoever posted first will be considered the winner.

Year end prizes will include SIM money, stakes yearlings, the freaks if they aren't won during the year and whatever else I think of.

Also, just as a warning, don't be surprised if I fall behind with posting results at least until mid June. I will be sure to keep up with posting races.
