Abercrombie mare Lisheen has proven she can produce a stakes star with $1.8 million earner Lis Mara, and she may have delivered another star in fellow Erv Miller pupil Lis Deo.

A The Panderosa half-brother to Lis Mara - the older pacing dynamo by Cambest - Lis Deo made her third career start yesterday and tallied a wrapped-up, four and three-quarter length victory in 1:50.2, tying the North American season's mark for a two-year-old with Dali and Duneside Perch.

With Brent Holland in the bike at the one-mile Illinois State Fair in Springfield, the $72,000 Harrisburg Yearling Sale purchase got away third from Post 5 and was on the move after the opening quarter flashed in 27 seconds-flat. Parked on the lead while tripping the half-mile marker in 55 seconds, the colt had opened up seven lengths by the three-quarters (1:22.3) and was wrapped up in his :27.4 final panel.

Lis Deo, unbeaten in his three lifetime starts, is owned by Classic Photo Stable of Chicago Heights, Illinois, MJG Racing Stables Inc. of Annandale, New Jersey, Hill View Enterprises of Cresskill, New Jersey and Louis Willinger of Louisville, Kentucky.

MJG Racing Stables and Louis Willinger own Lis Mara, the 2006 O'Brien Award winner as Canada's Older Pacing Horse of The Year that will be looking to defend his Canadian Pacing Derby title this Saturday evening at Mohawk Racetrack.
