Probably closer to one in a billion. I can't imagine something like the 1973 Belmont ever happening again.

Just wrote a special 2 part story on Secretariat, can't wait for it to run this week.

I'm happy that all of you enjoyed this post. Secretariat was one of a kind. His 31 length route in the 1973 Belmont Stakes to win the Triple Crown is probably the greatest thing I have ever witnessed. As they say: "he was more than just a horse, he was Secretariat".

I used to own a Great Grand Daughter of Big Red's. She was Appendix Bred, but the slowest thing ever on the track. She raced 5 times, hit the board once for a 3rd. Her fastest SI was 63. I bought her and trained her on barrels, but it was like no one was home. I often called her my blonde because of the dumb things she did (I'm blonde so I'm allowed to say that lol). She excelled in English classes, but since I only really showed English once a year I opted to sell her.

This is an interesting story, Ashley. I always enjoy reading about anything related to Secretariat. Years ago, I googled horses for sale that had his pedigree in them and was surprised to find as many as I did. I was never intending to buy one- (although I love horses) I was just curious.
I hope this horse is excelling in whatever she's doing now. She's beautiful.
