Sometimes random injuries do you a favor
I had this filly hit overnight. She was an allowance galloper running upper 70s speed figures so she would have spent her life in claimers and based on past experience she would have been claimed from me eventually. Instead she was retired by the random injury before that happened and turns out she's a star broodmare. Also has a nice little half-sister, so there has to be something working in that line.

It's nice when the bloodstock agent gives you some hope after disappointment. I had a nice allowance filly who unfortunately never quite panned out as I hoped on the track. I just retired her, and I really thought she would be a star broodie at worst. Nope, formidable. Which isn't the end of the world, but man ... kind of let the air out of the balloon.
Anyway, best wishes with her in the shed!
