Peaceful Way To Be Honoured Saturday

September 13, 2007

She won't be looking to defend her Maple Leaf Trot title Saturday night at Mohawk Racetrack, but Peaceful Way, the richest Canadian-bred trotter off all-time, will be honoured during the stakes-laden program.

Peaceful Way, the incomparable daughter of Angus Hall who won last year's edition in a masterpiece performance, will be on hand at Mohawk Saturday and will be honoured during a retirement ceremony following the fifth race post parade.

(also the cute little fluff piece on the related search)

A video tribute, highlighting many of her memorable moments on the racetrack, will also be shown during the evening. Peaceful Way retired recently with more than $3.2 million in career earnings.

Members of the Toronto Maple Leafs' alumni will also be at Mohawk Saturday to meet and greet fans. Former greats Johnny Bower, Bill Derlago, Lou Franceschetti, Gary Leeman and Jim Pappin will be on hand for an autograph session from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with personal player cards available for everyone.

Greg Blanchard and Mike Hamilton will also host a 'meet and greet' seminar from 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. with special guest Jimmy Takter. The Swedish-born veteran will send out four starters in Saturday's $1 million Canadian Trotting Classic as he looks for his third training victory in the event.
