A brutal few months at Cambridge Stud NZ has just got worse when they had to put down champion stallion Tavistock today. Known on the Sim as the sire of Werther, he had a freak accident in the paddock 8 weeks ago involving his foot, he had surgery on his hoof involving world class vets and farriers but after a setback last week they had to put the 14yo to sleep today.
In the last few months Cambridge Stud have lost stallions Roaring Lion (colic), Burgundy (laminitis), & now Tavistock (paddock injury) has there ever been a major stud farm that has lost 50% of their stallions in one season before through no (negligent) fault of their own?
RIP Tavistock

Re: RIP Tavistock
That’s devastating. I remember them announcing that Tavistock will be taking a break from stud duties, so sorry to hear that the injury turned into a fatal one. The staff at Cambridge Stud must be eagerly anticipating the new year, a chance to put all those awful losses behind them and hope for a better year.
