It's taken me awhile to get the guts to say
something on here. Why? I have no idea.
Because lord knows I need the help.

I'm not 'new' to the sport of horseracing...
or even the game. I just need help on figuring
this process out. For most of my time here I just
had one horse, My Clandestine. Whom I managed to ruin
with poor decision making skills, but I'm willing
to put that behind me if he is. Hah.
Anyway, thanks to a friend I aquired some of the
ponies she didn't want. I have an idea of what
to do with them, but I'd love outside opinion on
every aspect of making them somewhat successful.

Don't get me started on breeding. I've bred three
foals. Only one I'm proud of. My only broodmare is
barren this year, so I was a bit disappointed in that,
but it saves me money. I'd like to have a few decent
broods, but that can wait, I suppose.

Any tips you have are welcome and I'd greatly appreciate it.
Oh by the way, I'm Brooke! Thought I'd toss that in there.

If you can post the names of the horses, or better yet link to them, I'd love to offer what little help I can. ;)

Hah, that would probably help, no?
I'm not sure if these links works, but it's worth a try.

Brooke,
How could you hang out there for so long with only one horse. I couldn't wait to use all the tools and adventures this SIM has to offer. The Forum is a great place to learn just by reading what everyone else is talking about. There are auctions and sales that happen but you need money for that. I've made more money writing articles ($25,000 for 500 words) then in purse money. Get some money, get more horses. If you have 10 horses you're only running 2 per week and can't make much that way unless you get lucky. If you have 50 horses you can have 15 going each week. The more you have the more you can pick the best spots for your horses to run and make some money and improve the quality of what you have.

I'll let Paul and others look at your current stock because I'm still finding my way around. You have to invest some time to get the most from this game.

Hope that helps a little
Keith

OK, take this for what it's worth. There are others who have much more experience, this is just what I would do with each horse.

Buonarotti - He's doing ok on the allowance level, but if you find any mile claimers for over 30k in Europe, I'd take advantage of them. My guess is he'll be best between 8 and 9 furlongs now that he's broke maiden. I usually try a figure 8 when I see things like "settled" and "urged".

Chanson - Looks like she'll go sprint to mile on the dirt. I'd start working her every 3rd week starting week 8, to have her ready to go for the start of the year.

Hum Hallelujiah - I'd guess dirt mile is where this one will settle in. You can work her out again week 3 or 4, then start her around 6 furlongs week 6 or 7.

My Clandestine - Looks like this one would appreciate a drop in class for a while. He's getting beat up in stakes, but is competitive in allowances. I'd go for NW2 races between a mile and 9 furlongs until he gets another win under his belt. You might also consider a higher level claimer, like in the 50k arena. Also looks like he wants some breathing help, I'd put him on lasix, then a tongue tie if he's still flattening or evening out at the end.

Netherlands - I'd guess 9 furlongs would be his best distance. He is loaded with equipment, you could probably lose the sr and the bandages at this point, though that probably won't help his running lines much. Just for simplicities sake. My bet is, he'll break maiden for you pretty quick if you get him down to 9 furlongs and find a manageable field.

Our Hoss - I think you've got him at the right distance, and he'll probably appreciate the lasix. With this one, too, it will be a matter of finding the right field.

Run To The Money - Good that you're giving her a break. I'd try to get her back down to 5 or 5 1/2 furlongs starting week 4, if possible. Green Dashes have sort of been the red-headed stepchildren of the CAHs so far, but I'd bet she should at least break maiden. Maybe a move to either South America or Hawaii, with some lighter fields, would help with that.

Velucci - Well, the sire is more turf, but the dam is more dirt. They both might have a little talent both ways, but you'll have to play this one by ear. Just run a workout on both surfaces, one on dirt around week 12, one on turf around week 16. Make sure they're the same distance so you can compare. Dirt works can be anywhere from a half to a full second faster, everything else being equal. Whatever the surface, he'll probably want to go longer than a mile as a 3yo.

As for the barren mare, I'm not sure. I'd guess more dirt speed. Searching Energy In Excess as a dam sire, the big winner was Emblazon (Em's Always Busy), but he did all his racing pre-year 15, ie in the old simulation. Your best bet might be injecting her line with some top dirt sprint sires, choose fillies, and play for the next generation.

Hope this helps a little. I'm looking forward to other answers as well. Good luck!

Paul... you pretty well nailed that my friend ! The only thing I would add is Run To The Money seems to be a very weak CAH, and I think you will find out that HI will soon not be an easy place to find wins. Once that horse is there, you pretty much gotta keep it there for the shipping back and forth alone I would think adds a week or more on to the rest. Job well done Paul ! B)

Thank you to everybody for your input.
I had even forgotten that I posted this. =x
I've since come into ownership of a few more horses.
Even got one off a claim, in which he finished second.
And I currently have a claim on a colt that I've been
dying to drop into a claim so that I could grab him.
So we'll see if that goes through.

Anyway, I appreciate all the help.
And if anybody else wants to take a look at the new
ponies and maybe give me a kick in the right direction, just let me know.
Although I'm pretty I know what to do with them, except for
equipment. I still haven't caught on to that.
