Longbird (NOT) Retiring This Year!
Hey all,
I'll be retiring All Weather Derby winner Longbird after the Steward's Cup this year. He's got a very interesting pedigree, being the son of Songbird by a top Steward created stallion, Le Vent Se Leve. I don't have any AW mares to support him with, so would appreciate you keeping him in mind, I think he'll be something really special for the division. Initial price will be in the 20K-25K range.

Re: Longbird Retiring This Year!
Definitely an interesting pedigree. Not from any of the traditional bloodlines that were previously running the division like Benjamin, Thermodynamic and the Triple D's (Excaping, Hercules, Tapeta).
I'll send him some every year, most likely.

I’m surprised you never tried him on turf.

I am too. Realized that a few weeks ago but it's already kind of late. Live and let live I guess.

He’s only 4, you don’t have to retire him...this is when I wish we still had “Ask Emily Anything”, lolDanny Derby wrote: ↑4 years agoI am too. Realized that a few weeks ago but it's already kind of late. Live and let live I guess.

Re: Longbird Retiring This Year!
Short of Emily coming on here and saying don't retire him, he's retiring this year . I'm much more optimistic about his future in the shed than I am about a possible turf career in a much tougher division.Nick Gilmore wrote: ↑4 years agoHe’s only 4, you don’t have to retire him...this is when I wish we still had “Ask Emily Anything”, lolDanny Derby wrote: ↑4 years agoI am too. This is a tough one.
He is very good at all three surfaces. It would be kind of fun to see...

How about I just run him in the Arima Kinen Week 16?

Going to. He'll run in a big turf race W16. Leaning Arima Kinen but I'll need to see the fields.
