Re: Son of a Paint SC winner
He's an outcross, being by a GP stallion and from a daughter of a QH mare.
His second dam left a SC winner, as did his third dam. His third dam was Champion 2yo and won the Paint Juvenile Fillies Championship back before the SC for mixers existed.
I went looking through AJ's barn for a mare to send him before remembering that I (somehow) had a Grade 1-winning paint mid back in the day. She was one of my random injuries a couple of years ago (no idea why she wasn't insured), but I have a few of her daughters who've been sitting in my barn unbred for the past few years.
I'll now have runners in the division for the first time in a while. I've never been big into paints - they make up 2.8% of the horses I've bred - but nearly 10% of my Grade 1 wins have come from them. Here's hoping I've come up with another one.

Re: Son of a Paint SC winner
Actually, he nicks better than Beast. I have checked every good mid stallion including the qh cross breedables and haven't found that can nick as well.
He's A+ with virtually every one of my bh and some stars...
Re: Son of a Paint SC winner
Ooo, exciting! I only have a handful of "test" mares that I nick and with all of them they nicked the same with both stallions, but that's a small sample. I'm stoked to have such a nice looking stallion by a GP sire Will be super helpful with diversifying bloodlinesGlenn Larson wrote: ↑3 years ago

Edit: looking back I actually did have 1 mare that nicked A+ with Son of a Paint and A with Beast

Re: Son of a Paint SC winner MID and SPRINT!!!
Checked him on my sprint mares --- all A/A+ !!!!
I can't say that he nicks better than the best sprint studs, but I also haven't found any that nick better !

Re: Son of a Paint SC winner
So I nicked him with 3 router mares, all were A/A+ Looks like you've got yourself a tri distance stallion. One of the mares nicks A+ with the best of the best route studs (Prequell, Rave, Fuliol) and A with the lower level top studs (holiday studs) and 2nd rate studs, she nicked A+ with Son of a Paint which shows he's probably a top tier route stallion
