I wonder if anyone has talked about:
1) Breeding fees once you reach x number of foals. Like the first x are free breeds like now and the rest you pay a fee to the game.
2) Taxing farms with a "real estate" or "wealth" tax.
3) Increasing the day rate for board based on the number of horses. Similar to breeding, the first x horses are the current rate. More horses charge higher rates.
4) Taxing stud fee income above a certain threshhold.

Maximum total income = S$41,000,000. There you go. No need to remove money or tax anything.

How much money do you have Tim?Tim Matthews wrote: ↑3 years ago And if a player with $25 million loudly complains about some of that cash coming out of their account at the end of the year, we should all offer our finest Carole Hanson impressions as we play a song for them on our microscopic, proton-level violins.

Worth noting farm owners are already charged $80,000/year in farm expenses. A number of them are not profitable for that reason which is why you will often see them for sale for less than the $2 million they originally cost to purchaseKelly L Haggerty wrote: ↑3 years ago I wonder if anyone has talked about:

What about something chance-based, like raffles? Don't get rid of Stewardbreds completely, and raffle off the few that are bred each season. Make raffle tickets like $10,000 each. Sure, the mega-rich can still buy more raffle tickets than less wealthy people, but there's no guarantee they will win. That way, money is being taken out of the game, and it's not being done involuntarily, or in a way that will make the lives of new players and non-privileged players harder.
And, sorry to do this, but I'm gonna go here for a sec....
One of my major concerns whenever I see these threads, is that something will be put into place that makes gameplay almost impossible unless you make millions per season. Personally, I'm not a wealthy player, I sometimes get chunks of cash from horse sales, Ect. but I'm making *maybe* an average of $150k a week racing if I am lucky (before deducting shipping/board/daily fees). For instance, Frank proposing that insurance become a renewable thing earlier in this thread made me cringe. I can't afford to re-insure all of my nice horses at each rollover for upwards of $30k each. And, I know I'm not alone in that.

Ditto. Everything that is being discussed is harmful to smaller or newer barns. I go back to money sitting in the bank, with nothing to spend it on, may be the least evil. Given that this is a "closed" economy some of the pitfalls are mitigated.Rochelle Zahacy wrote: ↑3 years agoI feel this completely.Lily Wilkins wrote: ↑3 years agoAnd, sorry to do this, but I'm gonna go here for a sec....

Re: Steward Breds Leaving, why is this happening again?
I think the X-Man was trying to gently show you the flaw in your argument. Suppose we use $40M for the maximum balance of Sim$. If one is playing logically, one would purchase other assets to ensure one''s balance is below $40M -- most likely by purchasing horses. So the demand for horses would increase. So prices would go up -- producing inflation.Tim Matthews wrote: ↑3 years ago ...
A tiered wealth tythe is the most popular and effective way to take money out of the game. However, some people think a tythe is not the way to go. Sadly, these people have never come up with a good argument against it (although they have tried very, very hard - bless their hearts).
...
Please, I beg of you, anyone, come up with a good argument against the tythe. "It makes me mad" is not a good argument. Unfortunately for my opponents, I am allergic to missing - I swish long distance 3s only. Godspeed!
A tierd tythe strongly encourages a player to transfer their wealth from Sim$ into horse ownership. So the demand for horses would increase. So prices would go up -- producing inflation.
