How good is freak after change of gallop
I do notice the change since Y62 means fewer freaks now. But how good(bad) are they now?

They are much better than previously. But not many are "Stakes" caliber. At 3 you can probably win a maiden and NW2 but most flame out around there. Of course a few wll be able to win Stakes races...maybe 1 out of 5/6

Chasing has a lot of not so freaky freaks; "stakes" runners are mostly lower allowance and upper claimers
I'm just here for the fun of it

My chaser freaks are struggling in the cheapest claimers available.

You haven't galloped them since Y62. They can be down to stakes as of now.Meghan Kingsley wrote: ↑1 year ago My chaser freaks are struggling in the cheapest claimers available.

Re: How good is freak after change of gallop
I used to get 35 chaser freaks before Y62. Last year I got 7.
Flizan got even less % than that. After the change.
I would say that a chaser freak is really worth something. But to be really competitive it has to produce 104 or higher SF.
Top stallion quality has also gone down lately so it is harder to breed a chaser freak.
I would approximate (without any statistics to back it up) that a chaser freak colt has about 20-30% chance to reach the 350k mark.

Since the change, my freaks all win stakes, not that any of them has gone on to be a true star and be competitive at the highest levels. Some of my stakes gallopers also win stakes now.
