Looking forward to Y65?

Post by Kelly Haggerty »

I had a great Festivus last year, so my expectations for Festivus this year are in check. Can't expect 2 great years in a row, right? But, I am really looking forward to Y65 because:

1) I am going to have the best 2yo crop since I started.
2) My chase stallion will finally have his first large crop of babies get to jump, so I can see how he did.
3) New TR track (thank you Cleo).
4) The first crop of layaway babies turn 3 and more of them will get to start. We have a couple horses in the works that should get us our first stakes winner- yaaaaaaay!

What is everyone else looking forward to?

Retired most of my nice stuff, and the younger crops have been a little lukewarm, but hopefully something improves with age. Definitely looking forward to Cleo's track.

Looking forward to running a REALLY nice AWS filly, and hopefully some of the other kids run faster when motivated by competition than when solo training.
Full season of Rah Rah Rasputin at peak level. He's been great in his last handful of races after blooming.
Hopefully Egg blooms, I think she will be wonderful once she gets some traction.

1) I also have the strongest incoming 2yo crop since starting, which is exciting (but also tempered expectations for the incoming yearlings!)
2) I have stakes schedules actually mapped out this year, so my better runners will be more focused.
3) My Allowance LB's should finally peak this year, whether at the start or mid-season, and I expect at least one will improve to Stakes or better.
4) I get to test out some experimental horses this year, see if it's worth the effort.

I have some nice trotters to hit the track this year. My two best are both fillies. I have a decent colt. I think he will be ok but not great. You never know. Still have a long wait to see them perform. Everything else is meh.

I have 13 (!!) late bloomer stakes in my 2yo barn of 36 horses so if even half of those go to freak this year I will have some hope of a strong barn going forward.

The most A+ yearlings I've ever had. Hopefully at least one of them is a true freak (not just the comment, but a horse who demolishes all competition set before them)

I'm also super keen to see how Sorority Park goes and it makes me pretty happy to see it get mentioned a couple times already in this thread. To think I put off doing it for ages because I didn't think anyone else would like it haha.
