Jim Dandy Stakes -- Very Strange

Select Race 10 (today)

5 horse field -- 3 of them (#3, 4, 5) were trained by the same trainer. #2 Forte was the odds-on favorite. #4 Saudi Crown (E 8 horse) went to the lead as expected. But #3 Hit Show (E/P long shot) was left at the gate and pretty much lost all chances. #5 Angel of Empire (S horse) ended up running much closer to the lead than expected. The odds on favorite #2 (Forte) ran near the rail on the back stretch on an off-track where the rail was the worst part of the track. Turning for home, Forte moved off the rail and muscled past Angel of Empire and then brushed Saudi Crown near the finish. After an inquiry, the placings were not changed. I think Forte was the best horse despite a horrible ride. But I think he should have been disqualified and placed third for interfering with the #5 and #4. Note: I made no wagers on this race.

To make matters worse for horse racing, this race was televised on network TV (Fox).

Not the first questionable ride at Saratoga these past couple days. Seems like even the on track personalities have been frustrated with who gets disqualified and who remains up.

I cannot believe he wasn't disqualified and the jockey put up for suspension. He could have killed his own horse and the Saudi crown by clipping heels, not to mention himself and the other jockey. there was practically a shoulder pushing match between the jockeys. Altho I like Mike Repole, a few days earlier he was crying about wanting to leave the game because no one was fair to his horse, so the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
