Unfortunately, even with my stable being restructured I've finally come to the conclusion that I simply need to reduce my herd of broodmares. I've cut back on my runners as much as I possibly want to (I have 18 runners! I can't go much lower), so unfortunately the mares need to be scaled back. There will probably be a second sale sometime this year for mares as well as probably 3 yearling sales. My goal is to be down to right around or under 100 mares, currently I'm at 150.
If I end up doing a second sale, it will be likely exclusively Blue Hens as I only have 16 mares left that are not Blue hen (not including these mares) and most of those are tri distance which is a division I'm still building up. I'm for the most part moving out of Arabs, QHs and Paint Sprinters to focus primarily on Paint Mids (they've always been my bread and butter and my favorite to have) and Paint Tri Distance.
