I’m thinking Dan didn’t know to reset the stud fee?

Wait, what happened? Was he extended but then not 're-stood'?

Based on the horse history, he was not extended. You have 72 hours to pay the fee to extend. Once you do that, the stallion gets another 72 hours from that point and you reset the fee at the same time you extend.

Me too!

But now that give more unbred mares a chance to breed to God of Mischief

I am happy I bred my mares to him during pre-season, since I knew he was gonna be pensioned this year.

I made the mistake of forgetting or missing a stallion pensioning in the past and have missed out, so this year I made sure to check which stallions would be pensioned.
So it's a practice I've just started.

I do that too (check who is 14 each year), especially if we may be away from the game when a stallion is extended or if he isn't extended - last year I messaged the owner of a 14yo to ask them if they were going to extend the stud or not because I had some still racing that I wanted to breed to him; in that case I was told there would be an extension and then they very courteously messaged me when he got hit with the declining fertility so I could retire my mares and not miss out.

I had a bad feeling that this might happen and got 8 in to him early this year. I'll miss him - he was always an amazing value.
