Question about increasing foal limit

There are two options:

• Enable cross-breeding ("will increase the number of foals by 30" 7,000 GP)

• Increase foal-limit ("increase number of foals from 120 to 150" 9,000 GP)

Can someone please help me out with a couple of questions?

1. Is there any drawback with the Enable cross-breeding or is it the way to go? Looks like better value if you only need 150. (Going from 150 to 180 after that you would have to use the Increase foal-limit.)

2. Are the +30 slots good for the rest of the career for both options or do you have to pay the GPs again next season? (In the FAQ it says "one time fee" about cross-breeding and nothing about the other one. I assumed it was life-time, but then I saw a horse that had "Enable cross-breeding" last season and "Increased foal-limit" this season, but a maximum foal-limit of 150, which confused me.)

My understanding is that once you set a horse to be cross-breed eligible they will be cross-breed eligible for life and will always have a 150 foal limit to start. So if you want to increase the limit and have a breed where that is an option that is probably the first step way to go. If you don't want them actually being cross-bred you can always just set a crazy high cross-breed stud fee.

I think simply increasing the limit will just increase it for that year.

Tammy is correct. Cross-breed is good for the rest of the stallion's career, so those 30 extra spots appear each year. The other increase is only for that season.
