Thinking I was doing them a favor, I contacted them to point this out.
They admitted they were trying to 'scare off' others from entering the races.
I did notice some time later they blocked any further messages from me.
This is a prominent player and undoubtedly there are likely others?
Enter your own runners as you normally do and 'scare' them off ;)
Oh I always assumed that they just weren't sure which one they wanted to run in. Guess I'm too naive and trusting?
Shame on you lol
Hey I'm lazy and that seemed like a lazy way of bookmarking races so it checked out to me

One final thought, this may only be considered to be gamesmanship?
Are any rules being broken?
Other than the act of deception, I'm not sure that there are?
At this time this issue is above my paygrade!

I don't think I've ever been scared out of racing my horses. If I think the race fits them, they get entered....and often, I throw them into the deep end just to see if they have the quality to compete in tougher races.

I was even racing my fillies against the boys back when it wasn't as common of a practice as it is now.

So, I've never really paid much mind to horses entered into multiple races.

I've seen this occurring many times. Even though I know the "good" horse has a 99% chance of being scratched from any cross-entered claiming races, I still put in the claim if it's a horse I particularly like. You never know if someone'll forget to scratch.

If you have autoship off your horses will scratch automatically when they aren't en route to the track. No danger of accidentally forgetting to scratch - just forgetting to ship to the race you actually want to run in.

I have a simple solution Ive done forever, ignore who else is racing, enter the best fit based on conditions for your horse and hope for the best! If some big monster is in it, be aware that that horse may or may not race in it.

I'm similar as I enter and then cross my fingers that the monster stumbles at the start.

I make use of multiple entries for my horses but certainly not to put anyone else off entering. I'm based in the UK and tend to follow their real world system of making multiple entries 5 days in advance and then making final declarations roughly 24 hours before the race. I like to have a shortlist of possible races for my horses and if the upcoming race gets too competitive I'll scratch and aim for the next race on their list. The ability to make multiple entries allows me to keep track of the horse's shortlist otherwise I'll need to make yet another excel file

I’ve entered a horse in stakes races at the same time partly to see which field ends up more favorable. Now I feel bad haha

I thought it was because my horses frightened them so bad that they needed another option... :D

Gavin Guile wrote: 6 months ago Is it worth thinking about having a rule (code) that only allows a horse to be entered in one race at a time?

Is there a benefit to entering more than one race at a time other than deception? Trying to find a time where it would make sense…
Barrier trial as a prep, maybe. Otherwise, only being able to enter one at a time shouldn't hurt, if BT's didn't count.

sounds like real racing to me, coming from the real life industry it was a common practice with trainers to nominate for more than 1 race and see how the fields stack up and go for the easier option with certain horses,
