PSA - Be on the lookout for "fake" entries
I assume most people know this, but just posting it for newer players and anyone else who may not be familiar with this practice.
A popular strategy for some players that I'm seeing used more and more is to enter their better horses in several races at the same time, even if they don't have any intention at all to enter any of those races. They do this to scare off potential competition, scratching at the last minute and leaving the race easier pickings for another horse they own.
Be alert when you see a trainer with multiple horses entered in a stakes race, especially if one looks like it towers over the rest of the field. Click on the horse and see what other races it may be entered in, and use common sense as best as you can to determine if it's really going to run or not. (ie: a horse who ran last week probably isn't going to run back in a race the following week, even if they're entered in it.)

Re: PSA - Be on the lookout for "fake" entries
I once noticed that someone had entered their horse in different races on the same date.
Thinking I was doing them a favor, I contacted them to point this out.
They admitted they were trying to 'scare off' others from entering the races.
I did notice some time later they blocked any further messages from me.
This is a prominent player and undoubtedly there are likely others?
Enter your own runners as you normally do and 'scare' them off

I’ve noticed this a lot recently. It makes entering frustrating, so much so that I’ve resorted to creating state-restricted stakes races for my more special horses.

We can all live in the hope that at some point they forget to scratch their horse

Re: PSA - Be on the lookout for "fake" entries
yes it is a very popular trend among many players these days. Def frustrating, but over time you get to know these players by name and can easily spot them out.
I once saw a horse entered for Friday in 4 diff races and all four time circuits. People are crazy.
The thing is though they do t have to forget to scratch so there is really no risk to prevent them from doing this. The game will scratch your horse if your horse isn’t shipped by close of entries.
This is also is part of their strategy, they disable auto ship to track so then it forces them to manual ship in the race they are really trying to participate in.

Re: PSA - Be on the lookout for "fake" entries
Is it worth thinking about having a rule (code) that only allows a horse to be entered in one race at a time?
Is there a benefit to entering more than one race at a time other than deception? Trying to find a time where it would make sense…

Re: PSA - Be on the lookout for "fake" entries
Occasionally I’ll do it as a lazy way to keep an eye on two different races that I’m trying to decide between, without having to put the race URL’s in my horse’s notes. Ironically, I’ve utilized it more recently with the advent of the “chicken game” entering that’s been going on, so I can easily check daily to see if the intimidation horse(s) have been scratched yet.Gavin Guile wrote: ↑6 months ago Is it worth thinking about having a rule (code) that only allows a horse to be entered in one race at a time?

Definitely confusing as a newer player, I noticed it a lot while scouting and claiming horses. At the time, I didn't know you could place a horse in multiple races simultaneously.
The first time I noticed it, I also got tempted to message the player and let them know they may have accidentally placed a horse in back to back weeks. But them doing it with multiple horses and multiple race entries for each horse, I decided against it.
Thanks for the heads-up and explanation, Danny.

Wow, I’m way too lazy to do this. It also won’t scare my horses off cause I rarely even check what else is already entered.

Right!?!?! I am barely together enough to get my horses functionally entered into one race, much less decoy horses entered. Where do people find the time???

Oh I always assumed that they just weren't sure which one they wanted to run in. Guess I'm too naive and trusting?Gwayne's World wrote: ↑6 months ago I once noticed that someone had entered their horse in different races on the same date.
