Where do you like seeing turf mile stallions stand

Post by Tammy Stawicki »

I try to stand my stallions someplace where their offspring can take advantage of statebred races, but admit I don't know all the statebred options that are out there. I currently have a turf miler in Ireland and one in Louisiana. I'll be retiring Omniscience soon and am wondering where to stand him. I know Texas has an amazing statebred program complements of Carolyn Eaton but I'll admit Nightwatch has scared me off a bit there. Is there any place out there that you've thought boy I wish there were more turf mile stallions standing there?

Looks like Louisiana is the best one outside of Texas, but I'm seeing non-sponsored state bred TM stakes in Maryland and Florida and New York and California and Great Britain - though several of those I only see one. (I did a very quick scan though so may have missed some.)

I agree with Diane, I think the Australian circuit is a bit underrated.

I'll say as someone who races TMs that Australia doesn't feel like it has a enough races to support stallions (although this may be a chicken-and-egg problem where it needs more runners to create more races).

I like Texas.

Decided for now I'll ship Hempstead over to Australia and then I'm leaning towards putting Omniscience in Louisiana with Nonego. Them bing in the same palce would also make it easier if I wanted to sponsor some races to try and promote them some.
