The question of late scratches has been posed before. Your frustration is one shared by many of us. The reason it cannot be implemented is because the race is actually run by the system the moment the post positions are created. I think it’s physically impossible for The Admin to create a late scratch system due to the way the racing script for the game is set up.John Smith wrote: ↑5 months ago I feel something late scratches are needed more. Wonder if we could get post stats on various surface/distances? I mean intuitively I would scratch any horse from say the 11 post going a mile on anything but alas they are doomed to run and wait another 2/3 weeks for another reasonable shot at winning. I guess I am assuming these are all "round" tracks and have been coded with that in mind? IN short, racing realism is more attainable than breeding realism. simhorseracing.com not simhorsebreeding.com

Re: Breeding to a popular stud…
So, to equate the racing levers versus the breeding levers here... I can't late scratch. I can't give jockey instructions for the bad past, seeing as how I know the horse is tractable or not but I can raise the stud fee and I can reserve slots for myself and other players.

We already have random injuries. Yes, max of two per year, but people are not going to continue to put real money into the game if they're losing 65% of what they breed, that's absurd.John Smith wrote: ↑5 months ago Maybe the SIM could start at 65% injury or "doom" rate for yearlings...35 out of 100 foals one breeds make it to training barn..

I haven’t contributed to this convo but this seems to be a reasonable discussion on “limits”…through discussions like this the game evolves..I haven’t seen anyone being negative or complaining (just offering their opinions on what they would like to see and how they think those certain changes would impact the game)…I’m all for convos like these that encourage engagement and communication about the game.Randall Allen wrote: ↑5 months ago ....and you all wonder why the Steward left the game and put the entry clerk in charge. The community is what makes this game fun and I appreciate all the convos. That being said, never hurts to show gratitude for an amazing game that we all enjoy. If the players weren’t truly invested in the game then this level of discourse would not be happening (at least this is my read on these discussions - other may disagree and that’s okay too!)

I agree with you that a LARGE BARN is a cheat code in this game. To partially reduce this edge, I suggest that a "progressive breeding fee" (payable at the time of breeding) be instituted. For example, in a given year:Tim Matthews wrote: ↑5 months ago Anyway, all this is why LARGE BARN is a cheat code in this game. You can breed insane numbers for super cheap with no thought involved and absolutely steamroll everyone else.
Foals 1-100: $1000 (same fee as a vet visit) per foal
Foals 101-200: $10,000 per foal
Foals 201 and up: $20,000 per foal
For example, I bred 136 foals this year. So my breeding fee total would be: (100 * $1000) + (36 * $10,000) = $460,000
Player A fee for year (100 foals) would be: $100,000
Player B fee for year (200 foals) would be: $100,000 + $1,000,000 = $1,100,000
Player C fee for year (500 foals) would be: $100,000 + $1,000,000 + (300 * $20,000) = $7,100,000
Player D fee for year (1000 foals) would be: $100,000 + $1,000,000 + (800 * $20,000) = $17,100,000
So players who heavily uses the "cheat code" are progressively penalized more.

Re: Breeding to a popular stud…
I actually agree with Mr. Lord Chillin's view of that idea. Honestly a large barn can penalize itself by just breeding to be breeding and ending up with hundreds of productives or worse that there is generally no market for then paying $5000 per horse to send to AJ since there is really not much of a market for productives or worse unless it is a filly with a breeding shed comment. The only time I like to see a productive is if its a late bloomer or its a filly with the breeding shed comment. I deal in mainly Arabian racers so for me a productive-Late Bloomer could be my next Allowance-Peak that runs better than those that were galloped an Allowance-Peak as a yearling.
If you want to limit people breeding to your stallion then just set a stud fee that discourages sending multiple mares and encourages only sending their best mares to that stallion. Then if a player cannot afford the stud fee but has a nice mare then they can message you and see if you will reduce the fee for them to breed to your stallion (there is a feature in the set a stud fee that allows you to set a stud fee and the number of bookings a specific player can have to your stallion so you can set fees for certain individuals or your can see who is breeding to your stallion and how many times they have bred to your stallion so you can adjust your stud fee higher for those individuals who have bred multiple mares to your stallion to cause them to pay more if they decide to breed in the future.).

Are you kidding or just saying this to stir the pot? I’ve never heard anything so laughable.
