Post by Art K Stables »

It has been awhile since Ive started out a foal as a freak but 2 fillies who's mom's I pensioned to avoid them dying by foaling, Ollie WolfxNature Strip is one freak, and the other, a full sister of the 2yo DS filly champ Spirkle, Ypsirk's final daughter is also a freak by Perfectly Splendid... plus 11 stakes out of 97 total

38 bred: 4 freaks, 10 stakes. Very happy with over 10% freaks.

Freaks:
Demon King
Mess Is Mine - very happy about this one, I absolutely adore her dam and she's named after my favorite song by my favorite artist
You Are in Love, AKA the best track from 1989
Perfect Goodnight

Was a bit bummed Rauru is "only" a stakes, but here's hoping he still runs to the expectations I had for him!

I could not be more thrilled!

5 Freaks:
COLTS:
65 Fighting Words- Progressive / Breeding Shed. Given the mare's lackluster record with fillies, I chose to breed a colt. BINGO!
Effulge (Equinox x Exodus) - Late Bloomer
FILLIES
65 Baby Shark Doo Doo - Progressive
65 Pineapple - Progressive
65 Topsy Turvey - Late Bloomer

12 TB Stakes, all fillies. Mostly DR, but there's some AWR, TR, TM, and DM in there too. Tons of mare power represented, and only one "Peak" in the whole group, so these girls could end up being a lot of fun!
(I also got 4 nice looking Stakes QH fillies)

28 Allowance TB
36 Productive TB
20 Solid & Below TB
𝐴𝑧𝑢𝑙 𝐸𝑞𝑢𝑖𝑛𝑒
Since Year 30
Proudly Standing

Equinox | TR/AWR | $50,000
Quinny | DR/DM | $10,000

17 stakes for me, led by Unnamed out of In The Air Tonight, a Roughian daughter Stormy kindly leased me last year. She's sound, brave, and a late bloomer.

201 horses.

1 freak (https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.ph ... ID=1795151)
11 stakes (one a layaway foal bred by Kelly Haggerty)
41 allowance
73 productive
35 solid
40 claimer
no DCs (YAY!)

30 total are peak. My freak is a late bloomer.

I'm not one for doing stats but I can tell by eyeballing that less than 50% are solids and claimers this time around which is an improvement over previous seasons.

They're better than you think, hon, you bred me a freak by proxy - I repeated A Free Pair of Sock's breeding from layaway last season and got a LB freak filly.

Also my stakes layaway foal is a breeding where I asked you to try for a future stud from the same mare that produced my SC winning filly. You managed a repeat of her gallop - LB stakes. If he's anything like his older half-sister, he'll be a force.

Ended up with 3 Stakes, 12 Allowances & 18 Productives in my 49 foals, although overall includes 27 LB & 21 Progressives with only 1 peak

Definite improvement since my first breed last season 64 - where I had 2 Allowance out of 18 foals and rest a mixture productives/solid/claimers

Really pleased with my crop! I bred more this year than I've ever done before, but it seems to have paid off!

2 freaks (1 LB, 1 prog)
11 stakes (5 LB, 5 prog, 1 peak)
60 allowances (29 LB, 26 prog, 5 peak)
76 productives (39 LB, 29 prog, 8 peak)
33 solids (16 LB, 11 prog, 6 peak)
22 claimers (12 LB, 9 prog, 1 peak)

Freaks are 65 Be That Way and 65 Power Stone. I adore both of the mares these two are out of, but Power Stone in particular is a favorite. I debated on who to send her to all year and finally pulled the trigger on Napoleon in hopes of getting a Derby colt - so far we're sticking to the plan!

Stakes were by Linus, Still Fire, Valley of Fire, Best Revenge, Quinny, Timeweaver, Byron, Bannerlord, Dassem Ultor, Strange the Dreamer, and Delirium.

I was also pleasantly surprised with Codebreaker's gallops - nothing fancy, but a lot of allowances and productives from not so great mares.
Standing at stud
Bannerlord - DM/DR, 30k, A+ hypos
Funky Stank - TR, 10k, A+ hypos
Codebreaker - DR, 5k

Out of 45 (AW) foals:
- 2 stakes (my first homebreds ever!)
- 11 allowances
- 18 productives
- 4 solids
- 9 claimers
- 1 different career

A big improve from last year!

271 TB;
8 Stakes
53 Allowance

Actually, the odds are low, but for me, it turned out to be one of the best odds.

Absolutely chuffed to bits with this group, especially considering I really rushed my breeding. I genuinely thought this would be a terrible group! Instead it was 56% allowance or better, which is a number I'm very much pleased with.

86 gallops (still twitching about how big this crop is compared to my normal/desired numbers)
4 freaks (3 LB, 1 Peak) - 4.6%
19 stakes (14 LB, 2 progressive, 3 peak) - 22%
25 allowance (16 LB, 6 progressive, 3 peak) - 29%
25 productive (10 LB, 12 progressive, 3 peak) - 29%
9 solid (2 LB, 5 progressive, 2 peak) - 10.4%
4 claimer (2 LB, 1 progressive, 1 peak) - 4.6%
