TBS Select Auction - Insure Your Purchases!

Post by Laura Ferguson »

Don't forget to insure. Also, unless you love paying $200/week for no good reason, ship them away from TBS Farm.

How did everyone do? I got a freak Double Dog Dare Ya colt - his price went from $3 million to $5 million in the last 30 seconds, but I'm still happy with that. I had pushed the Champion x Less filly to $15 million and the Shahryar colt to $8 million (although someone else pushed him a bit higher after me); really liked both of those as well, but didn't really want to go higher than that for either of them. Lots of nice horses in this one!

I didn’t get my first choice … 2nd or 3rd or 4th and 5th choice I bid on But at the last few seconds … made a call to bid on a lower priced colt I could afford and he is a freak! Amazing I’m very happy! My first stew DR ‘colt’ since Startled Awake and Disconect Desire! Back when steward breds came with names!

The Everybody Wake Up colt. His sires first freak! $700,000

I really wanted the Stormfall filly. My heart was racing watching my proxy get ground away at in the final seconds, but I got her!

She’s a Brave Freak (edited to add that she also got the breeding shed comment this morning!)

After getting Freaks in the last two auctions it was time to pay the piper with a Stakes galloper here, https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.ph ... ID=1594898. She was relatively inexpensive though, and I love the female family so though I would have liked the better gallop I'm not unhappy!

Highs and lows this year for stewards breds for me. A freak and an allowance. I'm happy though having spent under $2 million total. Not bad at all.

FREAK GALLOP!

She's a Turf Miler, but I haven't been in that realm in a while, so unsure how good that will do anymore. :D
But a freak is a freak! It's been a long time since I got a freak in a Stewie Auction.

Sounds like you didn't buy an extra slot maybe?

How can you bid if you don’t have a slot ?? Does the pre season 2 year olds count ?
And if you can bud with out a slot that is really really stupid cause you can just bid up everyone with no fear of winning

The two year old's counted towards your limit, as they are steward's bred.

Did you place your bids before the GP auction closed? If so, that may explain it, as you hadn't hit your max by the time you placed the bids. I think it won't let you place bids once you hit your limit - I think I tested it one time and that was my experience, but hadn't tried the other to see if they remove bids placed before you hit your limit once that limit is hit.

Once you are maxed out you can’t place new bids. However appears Xander might have had the bids placed prior to acquiring his 2nd stewy. I’m sure the steward can check the records to confirm

Edit to add: I somehow forgot about this auction ending and don't know if I won him on an underbid or what happened the last minutes. (If someone knows and feel like sharing, PM curious me!) Not curious any longer, thank you! 😸👌
